Helicopter Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Rating Requirements
The Helicopter Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Rating is intended for those who intend to demonstrate the highest level of skill, professionalism, and accomplishment in their careers. The ATP Practical Flight Test is essentially an Instrument flight test to higher standards than the Instrument Checkride. Although few Professional helicopter jobs REQUIRE an ATP Rating, it is the highest rating you can attain in a helicopter. If you qualify, you can begin your ATP training in one of our two Schweizer 300 Instrument Training helicopters TODAY! .

- Must Posses at Least a Commercial Helicopter Pilot Rating
- Must be at Least 23 years old
- Must Read, Write, Understand, and Speak English Without an Impediment that would Interfere with Radio Communications
- Must have 1,200 hours of Pilot Flight Time (of which 200 hours & 75 PIC minimum must be in helicopters)
- Must have at Least 500 hours of Cross-Country Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Flight Time
- Must have at Least 100 hours of Night Flight Time (of which 15 hours minimum must be in helicopters)
- Must Pass an FAA Written ATP "Knowledge Test"
- Must Possess a Helicopter Instrument Rating
- Must Have 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument Time with at least 50 hours in Flight and 25 Hours PIC in Helicopters
- Must Pass an FAA ATP Oral and Practical Flight Test (Checkride)
The Instrument Panel (shown below) on one of Midwest's Schweizer 300C Instrument Trainers. Both are fully-equipped to perform precision and non-precision instrument approaches and are equipped with the latest Garmin 430 IFR-Certified Global Positioning System (GPS) with built-in NAV-COM receivers. You wil be training in a state-of-the-art Instrument Trainer.

NOTES: Hourly rates shown are based on the advance purchase of 10-hour "blocks" of instrument flight training time. Add $10 per hour if training is purchased hour-by-hour. Rates are subject to change without notice. Students may elect to take an outside ground school or study on their own with Midwest's guidance for written exams. Supplemental individual personalized ground instruction (if requested) will be charged at current ground school instructor rates.
